Interim report shows amazing progress

Film Increases Pupils’ attainment in Reading and Writing

A Leeds based team of film educators have spent the last academic year working with teachers in Leeds to show how film can be used to improve attainment and progress in reading and writing.

Teachers from schools across Leeds were asked to focus on children who were making little or no progress in literacy.

The programme, supported with funding from national education charity Into Film, has had a very positive effect on the motivation, engagement, progress and attainment. Early indications show that it has raised progress by almost 100% in reading and over 50% in writing.

The study also reported a 75% improvement in attitude to learning, with with one school showing an amazing 500% improvement amongst SEN children involved in the study.
