Castaway Film Festival 12th – 14th October

Castaway Film Festival Film Submission opportunity – An invite to Yorkshire based film-makers

Castaway are hosting a Film Festival between 12-14th October for members, schools and the general public. As part of the many different screenings and workshops available, we are inviting Yorkshire based filmmakers to submit film content which will be screened at our Estcort Street venue on the evening of Friday 14th October as part of our ‘Made in Yorkshire’ film night. After the screening, there will be an opportunity for audience members to vote for their favourite film, the winning filmmakers will be invited to a ‘Creative Development Training’ day hosted by award winning filmmaker Peter Snelling of production company ‘My Pockets’.

Art Form: Film (short – all genres) – Films must be 15 minutes or under and can be from any genre.

Be part of the Breeze Arts Festival!

Deadline has been extended to Friday 15th July.

The Breeze Arts Festival and Studio12 are looking for volunteers to be part of the reporting team at this year’s Breeze Festival.  The sessions will run from Saturday 23rd to Saturday 30th July 2016 on location and at Studio12, Central Library, Leeds Libraries and Information Service.

BFI Audience Academy Opportunity – Sheffield

The BFI Audience Academy are looking for 30 talented, enthusiastic and hard-working 16-19 year olds from across the UK to take part in the BFI Audience Academy 2016, which runs from Sunday 24 July 2016 until Saturday 30 July 2016.

Whether you’re a filmmaker, film blogger, regular cinema goer, or someone who simply enjoys watching and talking about films with friends, this exciting and intensive week-long residential will give you a real insight into the world of cinema.

BFI Film Academy Scotland Residential

Screen Education Edinburgh are running a BFI Film Academy Scotland Residential course from Tuesday 2nd August to Friday 12th August, and are inviting applications from young people, aged 16-19 across the UK.

Golden Owls winners

Golden Owls success for BFI Film Academy graduates

One of the short films made by students on cohort 4 of the BFI Film Academy, Leeds was awarded a Golden Owl in the KS5 category at the Leeds Young Filmmakers’ Golden Owl Awards on Thursday 31st March 2016.

The film The Big Question was produced as part of the BFI Film Academy, Leeds it was one of two films from this cohort that was short-listed in this category, the other Money Talks is availbale on our YouTube Channel
